Getting Your Puppy Comfortable With Their New Kennel
If you have a puppy, you may want to consider getting them their own kennel for their safety while sleeping or being alone. Kennel training isn’t something that should be rushed, and you should take the time to get your puppy comfortable with their new kennel. This will help to ensure that they don’t associate being inside the crate with negative emotions like fear or anxiety, and that they always feel safe and content when in their kennel.Read more :https://dogkennelflooring.co.uk
Begin by letting your puppy associate the crate with positive experiences, such as playing in it or eating treats inside of it. After they have become used to going into the crate, you can try closing the door for short periods of time after feeding them. Start with 1 minute and then gradually work up to about 10 minutes after they’ve finished eating. If they whine or bark during these sessions, you’ve probably gone too fast and should revert to the shorter time frame.
The Importance of Proper Flooring in Puppy Kennels
You can also practice putting your puppy in their crate while you are nearby, using a hand signal and verbal command to encourage them to go into the kennel. Praise them profusely and give them a few treats once they’re in the crate so that they will begin to associate it with good things. Then you can move on to leaving them in the crate while you’re gone for short amounts of time, again with praise and treats for entering the crate.
